The Round Lake Area is made up of of five villages: Round Lake, Round Lake Beach, Round Lake Heights, Round Lake Park, and Hainesville. We are an extremely diverse, 65,000-strong community with affordable housing and great representation across the ethnic spectrum. Linked to Chicago via two rail lines and Pace bus service, the Round Lake Area also boasts phenomenal shopping, access to nearby hospitals and healthcare, the abundant resources of the Lake County Forest Preserve and more!
We have one of the largest shopping areas in northeastern Lake County. From small shops where the owner waits on you personally to mega-stores teeming with merchandise, to restaurants of every kind, and everything in between – you will find it in the Round Lake area. From office supplies, to clothing, to pets, to hardware, to bikes, to auto care, to wedding services…. If you can’t find it here, maybe you don’t need it after all!
Recreation
The Round Lake Area Park District has been recognized as one of the finest in Illinois. They offer a full range of programs for residents and non-residents, from preschoolers to active adults.
The Park District has much to offer, including the Aquatic Center outdoor pool and splash pad, the award-winning Child Development Center, 18-hole Renwood Golf Course, Prairie Grass Nature Museum, the Sports Center with indoor soccer field, 57 neighborhood parks, and over 500 acres of open space for your enjoyment.
Education
The Round Lake area, Grayslake, Grant and Lake Villa school districts serve the area. The Lake County Technology Campus is available to our students. The College of Lake County is conveniently located along with the University Center of Lake County.
Up to date technology joins with traditional library services to make our Round Lake Public Library a favorite stopping place for many of our residents.
Police and Fire Protection
For fire safety, we have the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District. The fire district offers safety programs including CPR classes, a free smoke detector program, youthful fire setter intervention, home inspections, fire safety classes, babysitter, and Explorer Post/Cadet programs.
